Flexible, Chamber, and Large Ensemble Music
Pathways was written for and dedicated to Dr. Tyler Austin and the Oklahoma State University Concert Band. The piece was inspired by the following text by Rainer Maria Rilke:
"Understand, I'll slip quietly away
from the noisy crowd
when I see the pale stars
rising, blooming, over the oaks.
I'll pursue solitary pathways
through the pale
twilit meadows
with only this one dream:
You come too."

This concert march is based off of a 12-tone row given to me by my colleague and friend, Patrick Dietz. This 12-tone pattern is a theme throughout the piece. This is a quirky & entertaining march that is truly full of shenanigans and tomfoolery!

This is a fun, quirky, and energetic march for young band commissioned by the Young Band March Project. The French word for paperclip is trombone; so, with a little play on words, you get the Trombone Prince.

Commissioned by the Lowell Smith Middle School Band. (Matthew Hiller, director)
World premiere May 22, 2017.
Sueños de Circo (Circus Dreams) is the product of my work with Matthew Hiller and the amazing kids in the Smith Middle School band program. I left the piece "untitled" and let the students give it a name that embodied the character of the piece. This Latin-flared, dance-infused music with a spicy kick will definitely have you dreaming of the circus!
